Supporting Health Care
We know what it’s like to watch a parent, partner, child, and other loved ones fight for their lives. At The Dufresne Foundation, we focus on supporting health care initiatives in the hope of helping Canadians of all ages win that fight.
Health Sciences Center
The Dufresne family has donated over $1.2M to HSC, including $1M for a new urologic center, $100,000 to their PsychHealth Department, and $20,000 to their Adult Eating Disorder Program.
Hospitals and Medical Centres
The Dufresne Foundation has donated $163,000 to 9 health centres in Manitoba and Ontario over the last ten years.
Children’s Hospital Book Drive
Since 2004, Dufresne has proudly supported Winnipeg’s annual Children’s Hospital Book Market by providing the initiative with creative support, volunteer services, and book drop-off locations at our stores.
Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS)
Since 2019, The Dufresne Foundation has donated $22,000 to help critically ill, and injured patients access life-saving transport and care.
This project goes beyond urology. We believe in the vision for the future of HSC, and the key role this project will play in that plan, freeing up operating room time and resources.
Mark Dufresne CEO
As sleep experts, we understand the value sleep has on mental and physical health, especially for children. It improves academic performance, concentration, and immunity and reduces developmental problems. That’s why we believe every child deserves a great night’s sleep!
Dream Big
Through our Dream Big program, a portion of every mattress sold at Dufresne helps give the gift of a restful sleep to those in need within our communities.
Hope to Dream
Each year since 2010, hundreds of children currently sleeping on the floor, sharing beds, or without adequate measures for a good night’s sleep have received a new mattress thanks to Ashley’s Hope to Dream program!
We work with organizations to provide safe, accessible resources for families in our communities because we recognize everyone has the right safe shelter and a warm bed.
Since 2008, with every new Habitat home built in Manitoba, Dufresne donates a brand new, high-efficiency washer and dryer pair. We also donate products to Habitat’s ReStore and participate in team home builds.
To help families stay together while focusing on their child’s health, The Dufresne Foundation donates to help furnish rooms at Ronald McDonald Houses.
From crisis centers to homeless shelters to isolation units to refugee housing, The Dufresne Foundation continues to donate beds and other furnishings to help support the most vulnerable in our communities.
Kaizen means constant improvement, so it’s no surprise we believe in education for all, regardless of income level. Over the last ten years, The Dufresne Foundation has donated $138,000 to programs for youth and families facing adversity or homelessness through partners such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Covenant House Toronto, Jessie’s Centre, and Rossbrook House. We also provided nearly $90,000 in education and bursaries to schools in Manitoba and Ontario.
The Dufresne Foundation has donated $75,000 to help provide education and a hand-up to students in grades 6-8 from low-income families.
Driven by a common goal to Make Life Better, our team members work together to demonstrate our caring culture and Make Life Better in our communities.
In celebration of the power sports, arts, and culture have in our community, we’re proud to provide support for local teams, festivals, and enrichment programs, including Winnipeg’s local Canadian National Museum of Human Rights.
The Dufresne Group is a proud supporter of Harvest Manitoba, the Selkirk Foodbank, and many others across Canada.
Community Programs
Each year, our team members give generously to support local charities through our annual United Way campaign. With a matching donation from The Dufresne Foundation, over the years we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars at our Home Office alone!
Across the organization, team members give generously to their communities through toy drives, hamper giveaways, gifts for seniors and more!
Thanks to the initiative and recommendation of local teams, TDG has been able to support community centres, business improvement zones, and libraries across Manitoba and Ontario.
